During the Milano Design Week, when everyone's attention is focused on private spaces, esterni will present the second edition of Public Design Festival that will take place from 13rd to 18th of April 2010. The focus is on the city of Milan and its inhabitants, to further highlight the central role of public spaces as places where citizens develop a sense of community. To take part actively in the festival, the duepercinque international contest is already open: you can subscribe until 10th february 2010 at publicdesignfestival.org, where you can also find all the information about the first edition.
Open to all comers Public Design Festival is an open festival: you have the possibility to collaborate and work with us in many ways. You can send your ideas, suggestions and proposals to develop with us, you can interact with Public Design Festival through the Twitter profile and the Facebook group, posting related links for groups and activities from all around the world and exchanging ideas in the discussion areas.
Where it will take place?
The festival will feature installations and projects in Milan's public areas, as the Porta Genova train station and its contiguos street Via Vigevano. The area will be transformed in order to present the ten selected projects of the duepercinque contest and host international installations during the Festival. The intervetion will involve the entire square, from the Porta Genova subway exit to the bridge leading to the Tortona area, including the connected nearby areas. A new model of public space usage will be applied around the Station, which will be the centre of Milan's Design Week and the only connection between the cultural turmoil of the exhibition area and the rest of the city.
