2014 edition
Sixth Edition: 8th - 13th April 2014
Every year the Public Design Festival brings to Milan selected projects from all over the world with the aim of giving space to public space. The sixth edition will be held in Milan, in Piazza XXV Aprile, from 8th to 13th April 2014, and it will focus on the practice of eating and meeting in public space.

The call is open until February 28th 2014.
We're looking for projects that can help the act of cooking in the public space, but also ideas that can help the act of eating in the public space with a particular attention on the social aspect of it.

In public space we trust
Public Design Festival tumblr is a public archive open to everybody interested in public space's issues. Architecture, public design, urban actions, events and exhibitions, books and people to watch out for. + read more
It is the only biennale to be based exclusively on the set themes of urbanism and urbanization, organized by the two neighbouring cities of Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The theme of this edition is 'Urban Border' and it emphasizes the diversity, differences and individuality ignored, even hidden, by “main stream” trends and homogeneity inherent in speedy urbanization. The biennale closes on the 26th of January.

Under the overarching title "The Future is Not What it Used to Be", the 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial asks “What is the future now?”. The Biennial invites designers to rethink the manifesto, harnessing this powerful and fertile genre as a platform for reconsidering where we have come from, where we are, and where we are going.
The open call closes on the 1st of February.

MoRUS is a volunteer-run small history museum of grassroots activism that tells the story of efforts to create community spaces on the Lower East Side (NYC), especially the efforts that “reclaim” space that has been taken over by city bureaucracies or corporations. The mission of MoRUS is to preserve the history of grassroots activism and promote environmentally-sound, community-based urban ecologies.

"Magic Carpet: Re-envisioning Community Space" in Sai Ying Pun is a project led by the professor Hendrik Tieben, coordinating the team of the School of Architecture and the School of Journalism and Communication in Hong Kong. It is more than an outdoor cinema because it aims at preserving the memory and the past of Sai Ying Pun. The students were in charge of shooting people’s interviews and creating documentaries to be broadcast in the street.
